This applet first appeared in 'Area 51'.  It seemed to integrate OK with most of the scripts and I was getting a little bored of the scrolling Marquee to indicate a site, like most sites, are in continual development.  It also gave the home page a bit o' sound and movement.  And it should be annoying enough to move you off into the other areas!  Perhaps, in keeping with the 'safari image' - perhaps I ought to change the character into a little machine gunner then light up 'the sights' in a 'spray' pattern - to the sound of the 'gun' (rather than the Jack Hammer)?
